My mom has been doing a lot of traveling this year and her most recent trip was to North Carolina to visit her younger brother, Bill, and his family. She had visited my Uncle Bill last fall and had a great time, so I wasn’t surprised she wanted to go back. However, I think she was a bit surprised by the hot temperatures and high percentage of humidity in the south.
Mom, Bill, and Bill’s wife and kids had a great time together at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. But as you can tell from her postcard, it was quite warm there!
As if the extremely warm temperatures weren’t enough to deal with, they also arrived at the beach the week that two people had recently become victims of shark attacks while swimming in shallow waters there. Mom made the best of it and enjoyed wonderful seafood at Crabby Mikes and retreated to an air-conditioned condo at the end of the day.
We saw her briefly when she got back home. She said she’d love to go back to see her brother and his family, but likely would plan to visit during the cooler months of the year next time.
