Hello, fellow explorers. If you’ve been with us at Postcard Jar for a while, you know we chase the moments that linger long after the trip ends—the ones that feel less like tourism and more like a private indulgence. Our first voyage with Regent Seven Seas Cruises was exactly that: a masterclass in understated elegance, where every detail whispered, “Relax. We’ve thought of everything.”

Regent’s all-inclusive promise is refreshingly absolute. One keycard swipe at boarding, and the ledger is closed. Gourmet dining, specialty restaurants, unlimited premium spirits, Wi-Fi, gratuities, shore excursions—even valet laundry—are woven into the cruise fare which makes Regent a surprisingly good value. No up-charges, no surprises. Just the rare pleasure of traveling without a single mental tab running in the background. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?

Our First Regent Seven Seas Cruise

As Dream Vacations travel advisors, we were recently invited to participate in a Seminar at Sea on the Regent Seven Seas Splendor. We spent 11 nights on the Lighthouses and Lobster Rolls cruise itinerary that began in Montreal and ended in New York City. From the moment we board the ship, it was the most relaxed and pampered we’ve ever felt on a cruise. Here’s why.

12 Exquisite Touches on Regent Seven Seas

Here are 12 of the quiet, exquisite touches that turned our 11 nights at sea into something closer to a floating sanctuary of indulgence than a mere cruise.

NEW TRAVELER FORM

1. Versace at the Table

As you’re seated in Compass Rose, the main dining room, each place setting has a beautiful Medusa-embossed Versace charger and bread plate. Real silver flatware and quality porcelain follow. Servers even present cream and sugar with silver service. It’s not ostentatious or unapproachable; it’s simply correct—like dining in a private club at sea.

2. Seamless All-Inclusive Freedom

From the moment you step aboard, the financial world recedes. Because it’s all-inclusive, there’s no need to check your onboard account every day for extra charges. Every pour of wine, every plated course, and every guided walk ashore is prepaid. The only decision left is how deeply you’d like to unwind.

3. L’Occitane Indulgences

You’ll find individual bottles of L’Occitane verbena shampoo, citrus conditioner, and jasmine-sheened lotion amply stocked (and re-stocked) in your luxury bathroom. As a result, your skin feels amazing long after you’ve toweled off, a discreet reminder that even the smallest rituals are elevated here.

4. The Remote Control’s Leather Cradle

OK, this was new one for us. The first time we went to turn on the tv, we couldn’t find the remote. It’s no wonder. It was stowed in a slim, embossed leather folder standing on the nightstand – a tiny act of foresight that made this ship feel so luxurious. Regent Seven Seas Cruises even elevated this mundane task.

5. Anticipatory Beverage Service

Cross the threshold of any lounge and a server materializes, balancing a silver tray with chilled rosé, a bone-dry martini, or the house Old Fashioned. Do you prefer something else? No worries. They’ll note your preference before you’ve chosen a seat and you’ll have your choice in no time–double strained, of course, as nature intended. And, every night at dinner, you’ll find two unique wine selections that pair well with your meal. Of course, you may also choose an old favorite.

6. Complimentary Valet Laundry

The laundry service on board is second-to-none. Simply place whatever needs to be laundered–pants, dress shirts, or even your unmentionables–in a laundry bag outside your door in the morning and you’ll find it pressed and folded in your cabin by cocktail hour. Ann’s nightgown even returned with crisp creases and our undergarments were pressed and perfectly folded, wrapped in tissue paper like a present. With the spacious walk-in closet and silk-padded hangers in our suite, we could bring a full wardrobe and still keep everything fresh and perfectly organized.

7. Beautifully Plated Dishes

On Regent, dishes are all made-to-order. Nothing is prepared or plated until it is ordered, so every dish comes out fresh, hot, and looking exquisite – like this delicious dessert.

8. A Curated Art Collection

Wander the corridors and you’ll pass original art pieces from renowned artists. The collection is museum-grade yet quietly integrated—no placards, no velvet ropes. The ship itself is the art gallery with more than $5 million in fine art freely available for appreciation.

A few more luxurious touches

9. Terry-Cloth Covered Pool Loungers

On the pool deck you’ll find padded loungers with tidy, removable terrycloth covers. As a result, they feel cool against sun-warmed skin. No damp vinyl like on other cruise lines, just fresh, padded luxury.

10. Streamlined Shore Excursions

Every port includes a menu of complimentary tours that you book online before the cruise. When it’s time for your excursion, you receive a numbered card—no lanyards, no annoying stickers. Buses depart on the dot, so we never waited more than about three minutes in the theater before our excursions departed.

11. Fresh Flowers, Always

Orchids on the concierge desk, roses on the dinner table, hydrangeas cascading from the atrium. The floral arrangements are replaced daily, so the ship smells faintly of a high-end florist rather than a lobby air freshener.

12. The best of all: intuitive service

We don’t know how they do it, but somehow the happy and helpful crew on board Regent Seven Seas Cruises knows what you want before you do. From glasses that don’t run dry to plates that disappear from in front of you right after your final bite, someone always seems to be watching out for your needs. Simply put, the service was exemplary as can be expected from Regent’s industry leading 1:1.4 crew to guest ratio. And because it’s a smaller ship with fewer than 1,000 guests, you’ll find that you never have to wait for service, either.

What Makes Regent Seven Seas Stand Out

These quiet luxuries aren’t gimmicks with Regent. To us, they’re the difference between merely being served and being truly cared for. Because Regent Seven Seas has mastered the art of luxury that feels intimate rather than imperial—it’s approachable enough for first-timers like us, yet refined enough to satisfy seasoned travelers who thought they’d seen it all. And believe us, until you’ve sailed Regent, you haven’t seen it all.
