A unique wine tasting in the woods and our stay near Montepulciano, Italy

by Ann | Jul 25, 2018 | Experiences, Feature Experiences, Food and Drink, Italy, Places to stay, The World, Where we've been

When we went wine tasting in Tuscany (can I just interject that I’ve dreamt about saying those words for quite some time) I had no idea what to expect from our visit to the town of Montepulciano, other than we would likely be tasting Vino Nobile, the typical...

🥔Yes, we eat carbs. Every day, as a matter of f 🥔Yes, we eat carbs. Every day, as a matter of fact.

Tonight we had one of our favorites - roasted potatoes. We just diced a couple Russet potatoes, lightly coated them with olive oil, and sprinkled on our favorite garlic dynamite seasoning and some black pepper.

Then we air fried them at 400 degrees for about 14 minutes. They came out crispy with a soft and steamy center. Delish!

What are your favorite ways to eat potatoes?
A few years ago, Nebraska tourism launched a new c A few years ago, Nebraska tourism launched a new campaign using the phrase, “Nebraska - Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”

The self-deprecating humor was an attempt to address the preconceived notions about Nebraska to out-of-state markets. The truth is, Nebraska is not for those who hate wide open spaces, fresh and clean air, starry nights, and beautiful views like this one.

When wake up and take in this view from our deck each morning in rural Nebraska, we are grateful to live here. We smell the freshly cut green grass. We listen to the cardinals and house finches and bull frogs. And we take a few moments to just breathe as we watch the sun rise over the Great Plains once again.

Nebraska’s not for everyone. But we sure do like it.

One week after having surgery to remove my pacemak One week after having surgery to remove my pacemaker/ICD and leads, I am back to my morning walk. I woke up feeling so much better today and got outside for a slow walk with Steve by my side (this video is double time). It felt so good!

I’m still sore and tired, but I feel like today I turned a corner.

Later in the morning, I had my main surgical site dressing removed and everything is looking good and healing well.

We are praising God today for answering our prayers and the prayers of so many of you. 🙏🏻

I am continuing to rest and heal at home in Nebraska and we are starting to think about where we will travel next. Any suggestions?

Our neighbors, Kathy and Larry, brought us the mos Our neighbors, Kathy and Larry, brought us the most delicious meal last night.

Kathy is an excellent cook and brought us chicken with a fresh veggie and pasta side and a salad.

It really was a wonderful meal and healthy, too! Our neighbors have a well-tended garden and brought us tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions they’d harvested themselves. Delish!!

We are so blessed to live in such a great neighborhood with such thoughtful neighbors.
There’s just some thing about putting on a prett There’s just some thing about putting on a pretty pair of earrings that makes me feel better.

As I recover from my heart surgery last week, doing small things like taking a shower and putting on jewelry seems to improve both my mental and physical state.

I’m absolutely in love with these earrings Steve got me for my birthday. He found them at @big_rain_gallery in Pawhuska, Okla. The are designed and hand crafted by @dancingbluestone.

These thunderbird earrings celebrate friendship. The dot represents a spirit or being and the hands represent friendship.

Best of all, they lift my spirits every time I put them on.

What’s one small thing that always lifts you up?
